What most citizens and property owners of Portsmouth, Ohio don’t realize is the City Council voted Tuesday, May 27, 2008, by a vote of 4 to 2 to assess your property with an additional 3 mil levy. This item was supposed to be a 1st reading but the rules were suspended and past that same night; this millage will buy equipment for the Fire Department.
Yes, I believe we need to maintain our services and our infrastructure, but we need to do it in a way that is cost effective and planned. Bob Mollette, 3rd Ward Council has been asking the Mayor for a plan for nearly 4 years and to date no plan and all purchases and appropriations are done on the spur of the moment and on a hope and a prayer.
